Half court hoop shooting ONLY


ADDITIONAL PLAYGROUND EXPECTATIONS

Walk to and from playground, stay on playground

No throwing sand or rocks

 No blasting or kicking balls

Observe game rules

 No tag games allowed

Freeze at the bell and hold equipment until directed by an adult to move

Take responsibility for your actions

 

HOW DO WE PLAY?

Basketball – No GAMES – shooting games ONLY

Court 1 half court : 3rd Grade – shooting only

  • Shoot from each spot – when basket is made, player moves to next spot.  Object is to make basket from each spot.

Court 2 two half courts : 4th Grade – shooting only

  • Half courts only, shooting only.

Court 3 two half courts: 5th grade – shooting only unless supervised


Four-square

  • Wait with feet behind line

  • New person in square is server

  • New player tosses ball to #4 player to start game

  • OPEN hand, UNDERHAND

  • Ball fair only if it bounces in the outer square

  • Hitter OUT if ball bounces on a line, if player misses ball, if player hits illegally

  • NO ‘do-overs’, ‘teams’ or ‘betters’

  • NO catching, holding, blasting  or spiking

Tetherball - 

  • Hit ball with  OPEN hand(s)

  • One player only on a side

  • Next player in line is referee

  • Game ends when rope wound completely around pole

  • Winner chooses side or serve

  • Game over at freeze bell

  • Players are out when they:

    • Touch the pole or rope; Step out of side; Stop and push ball; Hold ball; Double hit ball

Wall Ball

  • In coming player serves ball by throwing ball towards the wall

  • Ball must bounce once on ground before it hits the wall.

  • Receiving player must hit the ball, open handed, either before it bounces or after one bounce

  • Play continues until the ball:

  • Bounces on a line or out of boundaries.

  • Ball bounces more than once before it is returned

  • Ball hits wall without bouncing off the ground first

  • Ball is caught before it is hit

  • When player is out, they go to the end of the line and a new player comes in

When a player wins 3 games in a row, they go to end of line and next 2 players enter court

Play Structure 

  • Hold bar with BOTH hands

  • Wait turn 

  • DO NOT help anyone on bars

  • DO NOT jump off or stand on

  • No chasing, no blocking others

  • Take turns

  • One person at a time

  • Only go down slide, not up

  • Do not push or chase

Hopscotch

  • Put the marker in 1st space, and then go in order.  Hop over marker.  

  • Out if you touch a space with a marker or step on a line.

  • Go to end, turn and return, pick up marker on the way.  

Toss your marker to your next square

Swings

  • Only 1 at a time on swing; NO standing on swing

  • Forward and  back only

  • NO pushing, running between, or in front of swings

  • Stand in ONE line beginning at yellow rectangle, ALL count to 20; ALL get off ALL swings at 20

  • Count to 20, saying 1-100, 2-100, 3-100 to 50

  • Stop swing then get off – NO jumping off swings
