Hello Birney families and friends,

Week Two has begun, after a well-deserved three-day weekend we began our full synchronous instruction today at 9:00 a.m. Last week was mandatestart at 9:45 due to the welcome week schedule. We will now all start at 9:00 a.m. daily with the teachers ready for the daily morning meeting. The will go over the d start at 9:45 due to the welcome week schedule, check-in with everybody, set expectations for the day's lessons, and make sure everybody is okay. I know there were a lot of technical glitches still today, but I anticipate these will be ironed out through the week. Do not hesitate to email your teacher or me if you have questions, concerns, or suggestions!

Expect your teacher to take some time to build the virtual classroom community and expect the work to develop over the next few weeks. For this first full week of classes, expect us to take academic instruction slowly, since we will be doing a lot of teaching of the HOW before the WHAT.

Family Friday is this Friday, 9/11, from 2:30-3:30. The first half hour you will have the opportunity to meet the staff, hear about our IB Program, and there will be a grade level breakout opportunity from 3:00-3:0 to see a brief back-to-school presentation and chat with the grade level team. Here is the Zoom link https://sandiegounified.zoom.us/j/96849622312; Meeting ID: 968 4962 2312, Password: b_ _ s ...and the password is b _ _ s! Always the same = b _ _s!

Need to talk to me? I am always available by email!  But if you want face-to-face, I host a virtual ‘Open Door Office Hour’ every Wednesday from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Stop by to share suggestions, requests, praise, wonderings. Need a device? Check a new device out at Birney daily from 12:00-2:00 during lunch service of Grab n Go meals, just stop by the office. If your device is not working, first call the Online Learning Support hotline at (619) 732-1400 and walk through with a technician what is wrong. If they cannot fix over the phone, they will tell you where you can exchange. Check out the Family Technology Support website at www.bit.ly/sdusditsupport for all things you need help with in the technology realm. We also list this on our Birney @ Home so you can bookmark it there for the future.

Still need supplies? I would say 85% picked them up this week BUT if you did not, we have your supplies in the office, stop by between 12 and 2 during the week, pick up some food, grab your supplies bag, let us know how you’re doing!
