Hello Birney families and friends,

Questions, need help?

Need to talk to me? I will be hosting a virtual ‘Open Door Office Hour’ every Wednesday from 3:30-4:30 pm. Zoom with me to share suggestions, requests, praise, wonderings. or Meeting ID: 972 8803 0231 (we using our usual password, here's a hint: b _ _ _)

Need a device? Check a new device out at Birney daily from 12:00-2:00 during lunch service of Grab n Go meals, just stop by the office. If your device is not working, please do NOT return to Birney to exchange, instead call the Online Learning Support hotline at (619) 732-1400 and walk through with a technician what is wrong. If they cannot fix over the phone, they will tell you where you can exchange. Check out the Family Technology Support website at for all things you need help with in the technology realm.

Need supplies? Seriously, we have about 30 kindergarten kits still in the office – come by and pick yours up. The rest of the grade levels distribution schedule is below:

Tuesday, 9/01, 12-2: 2nd grade, Wednesday, 9/02, 12-2: 5th grade, Thursday, 9/03, 12-2: 3rd grade, Friday, 9/04, 12-2: 1st grade and 4th grade

Supply distribution takes place in the Birney Ed Center driveway, cars enter from park or from the Ed center driveway and move through the Birney parking lot, stopping next to their teachers’ tables to pick up their bag of supplies. If you can’t make it at the designated time, come at the lunch time after your date and we will run in and get a bag for you.  We are trying to facilitate all contact with the school to occur during that lunch period between 12 and 2, so that we can serve our families in online learning at all other times.

Need parent information? The Parent Learning Menu is a resource to figure out all the technology (Google Classroom, SeeSaw, Zoom, PowerSchool Parent Portal), socioemotional, health and safety and other information you might need. The SEL parent training modules are really good (I think).

Need student activities? Your teacher should be posting links to the asynchronous (on their own) learning modules for students in their Google Classroom. Make sure you’ve accessed your child's google classroom to get the schedule for the week, reach out to teachers if you’re stuck.

Need help with Zoom? If you are having problems joining a Zoom meeting that has been set up for authenticated users, follow these steps. Here is a video tutorial.

Question/Concern? Simply reply to this email!  Onward and upward, gotta keep those plates spinning...
